Sourced Upcycled Messenger Bags

We have had a nice delivery of messenger bags today. These bags are hand made in Cornwall using upcycled materials. There is a BIG difference between upcycled and recycled. Upcycling takes a product, modifies it into something else of higher value, whereas recycling uses a lot of energy and changes the properties of the object to make use of it again.

These bags are made from old truck tarp (you know, the shiny stuff on the side of trucks that flaps about while your trying to overtake it on the motorway), seat belt straps and inner tubes. All the bags are handmade, each bag is completely unique, durable and waterproof. There are 2 sizes available, medium costs £40 (fits 13" laptop) or large at £50 (fits 17" laptop). This is a great price for such a good bag!

Tokyo Bike

We are now the only independent bike shop in the UK stocking TokyoBike. We went up to London to give the guys a visit, and check out their store in Shoredich. They were kind enough to open up especially for us.

TokyoBike

Simple, white deco gives the shop a minimalistic feel which compliments their bikes perfectly.

They have a range of gents and ladies city bikes, ranging from single speed to 9 speed and up to 8 colour options. These bikes have been very well thought out, with decent geometry and quality components throughout. They even adjust the handlebar width depending on which size frame you require. This is the kind of attention to detail we are talking about.

If you are in London, go check them out at 87-89 Tabernacle Street, Shoreditch. Or if you would like to test ride or purchase one, pop down to our Brighton shop on Trafalgar street.

Paper Bicycle

This weekend was the Paddle Round The Pier event on Hove lawns and while walking around, I stumbled into Alan and his Pebble Bikes (also known as Paper bikes) stand. Paper bikes began in Scotland, where they are made, and are fully customizable, with 3 different colour palettes to choose from, gear options and even custom vinyl chain guards.  Check out these great reviews from some very respected bicycle critics

If you are down in Brighton and Hove today, check them out at the Hove Lawns (by the seafront). Give them a test ride because they ride exceptionally well. We have one for demo throughout August, so pop down if you would like a test ride. You can even take the bike for the day (£15) or weekend (£25) and if you make an order, get your hire money back! Paper bicycles can be ordered here.

More info can be found at paper bicycle or pebble bikes

Charge Hob Review 2012

This is all about the 2012 Charge Hob. Somerset based Charge have used Cro-mo steel and a mixte frame design on this urban single speed. I'm a big fan of the french designed mixte frames and this bike is all the more beautiful because of it.

The first thing that catches your eye with this bike is the unique paint work. Charge have added some glitter to the candy apple red and the result is sparkling!

Like with all Charge Bikes, the Hob is quality throughout. The beautiful Charge cranks get you up to speed and the reliable Tektro brakes help you stop quickly. The Charge Hob uses a lot of Charges own products, which Charge have designed from the ground up, including some retro amber walled tyres and the highly popular Ladle saddle.

The Charge Hob is a perfect example of what Charge are about - simple, quality, attractive bikes. We have a small Charge Hob in our showroom, which is currently on offer for £400 (thats 20% off RRP) for the current 2012 model. Come on down and have a roll.
