Mudguards are important to keep your clothes as clean as possible from the puddles on the ground. They also play a vital role in keeping your bike clean, which helps to keep everything running smoothly.

A Good Set Of Lights:

When the weather is dark and raining, visibility is greatly affected, so a good set of lights is essential.  If you like, you can also get reflective equipment to use as well as your lights for relatively low cost.

A Waterproof Bag Or Pannier Bag:

The Ortlieb panniers tend to be very popular, due to them being hard wearing and completely waterproof.  They come in a variety of sizes, colours and styles.

For a more budget option you can buy waterproof covers for rucksacks, pannier bags or waterproof bag liners.

One last thing for cycling through the winter which is important is to keep your bike clean.  It is really important to keep your bike clean throughout the winter, as a dirty bike can result in your components wearing out quicker. Muc-off bike cleaner and a Muc-off microcell sponge will do the job nicely :-).

Stay safe, be seen and take care during those wet, long nights!
